Guyanese Youth United (GYU) was established in 1995 as a unique way to create and enhance youth opportunities and experiences. GYU's aim is to promote and foster positive relationship between youth and their peers as well to strengthen, encourage and promote self-respect and self-enrichment. GYU has been very successful in supporting young individuals from all walks of life as they transition from youth to adult
Our members work from a non-violent, anti-racism framework which is extremely appreciated by our fans and supporters. We continue to promote diversity and teach life skills in order to overcome all barriers. It is our belief that all communities benefit from youth development, and we feel that sports are a great tool for many youth to learn life's valuable lesson
The ALL BLACK attire AFFAIR & PRE-HALLOWE'EN CELEBRATION focuses on people of every culture, religion and sexual orientation, coming together for a common interest. It is a reunion of friends and family sharing in conversation that have made a difference in their lives, or just good advice being passed on to the youth of tomorrow.
Finally the ALL BLACK organizers recognize the need to encourage young adults to not only participate in their communities, but also serve as examples, being positive role models to the numerous individuals who live in these communities. That being said, initiatives such as basketball and soccer were introduced as a tool to provide socialization, bonding, trust and also leadership skills, contributing to the growth and development of these communities.
