DJ Sweet Chunes is Ottawa’s most requested SOCA DJ’s. His desire to fill the gap missing within the Caribbean community specifically with music in the SOCA genre; makes him one of the most DJ’s in demand.

He not only plays SOCA, but a variety of other genres such as TOP40s, DANCE, HIP-HOP, RnB and REGGAE and has been playing these for the last 10 years, playing for huge crowds.

At the early age of 13 in Trinidad, DJ Sweet Chunes started his musical career helping his uncle, DJ PrimeTime at events where he learned a bit of his craft on Technics 1200 turntables. He still applies his trade using the Technics 1200 even though he has played on many other platforms such as CDJs, and Controllers.

He uses different techniques to keep listeners interested by beat mixing, scratching and blending instrumentals of SOCA genre with today’s club hits.

In the past ten years, he has provided musical entertainment playing on ExcelMix Radio show called Tremor Tuesdays, and now Turn up and Temptation Tuesdays for the Mylime Radio and Carivibe Radio respectively via internet and android technology.

Sweet Chunes has the liberty to play this music, looping tunes and listeners getting so excited that they call in, text and communicate via chat rooms requesting their shout outs and favorite musical hits. He also plays on Saturday afternoons on CHUO 89.1 FM Caribbean Flavour in Ottawa, Canada the Nation’s Capital, encouraging listeners to call in and join the radio show. This show is about reaching out to not only the Caribbean community, but also opening up the radio waves to new listeners and sharing this love of music with them. Good vibes all round!!

He’s been playing alongside the likes of DJ’s Mikey Wizdom, Papa Richie, Mace, DJ Stephen, D’Bandit, Production Sounds, Private Ryan, Starting from Scratch, Dr. Jay, Soca Sweetness, D’Enforcas Sound Crew and Red Hott to name a few… mixing it up and working with the best in the dj fraternity.

Sweet Chunes has played at many charity events, weddings, parties and clubs such as Mansion, City, Flybar, Rituals, V Lounge, Blueprint, Elements, Czar. He also features in his own events; not only is he a DJ, but also a promoter who is known for concept events. These events in the past have been Whining Season, Cold Sweat, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Events such as the yearly anticipated Escape, Endless Shades of Summer and Sunset Lime are always sold out events. Look out for more new concepts events to be added!!
