Toronto, ON — Friday, Nov. 14th — TicketGateway, a popular Carribean-owned ticketing platform, has donated $3,000 CAD toward ongoing relief efforts for communities affected by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica. The contribution was made during a community relief event supported by the City of Toronto and attended by Mayor Olivia Chow, city councillors, and members of Toronto’s Caribbean community. 

The event was hosted at Bedessee, a well-known Caribbean goods importer sending essential non-perishable items and supplies to Jamaica as part of coordinated hurricane relief. TicketGateway representatives participated in the event and were featured on CP24, discussing the importance of supporting Caribbean communities through long-term recovery. 

In addition to TicketGateway’s contribution, UNI-TNT — a nonprofit organization co-founded by TicketGateway founder Tony Chankar — donated an additional $3,000 CAD, bringing the total support from the extended TicketGateway community to $6,000 CAD. 

Impact of Hurricane Melissa and Continued Community Support 

Hurricane Melissa has caused significant damage across Jamaica, affecting thousands of families and disrupting essential infrastructure. Many communities continue to experience challenges as recovery and rebuilding efforts progress. 

These impacts extend to Jamaica’s vibrant tourism and entertainment sectors — industries deeply connected to TicketGateway’s partners and customers. Many event organizers depend on stable infrastructure to power the festivals, concerts, and cultural events that fuel Jamaica’s economy. Many attendees and supporters of TicketGateway-hosted events around the world also have close personal ties to the island.
