There Is A Massive Food Festival Next Month In Louisiana & It's FREE

Thursday, Oct 31 06:08 AM

New Orleans is a food heaven. Whether you're from here or visiting, the city is undefeated when it comes to throwing down in the kitchen. Specifically, nothing screams savory, spice, and everything nice like a Lousiana style bowl of gumbo. You need to save your appetite for this New Orleans food festival that's serving up every kind of gumbo and signature NOLA style dishes.

Treme Creole Gumbo Festival is a two-day celebration that's taking place November 16 and 17. The festivities are a celebration of Black culture that has had such a profound influence on the fabric of Louisiana. It's fitting that the festival is taking place in the oldest Black neighborhood in the entire state.

Gumbo reigns supreme as the star of the show that day. No matter your palette, there will be gumbo to satisfy your cravings. Everything from vegan gumbo to dark roux chicken and sausage will be prepared to your liking.

You'll be grooving and chewing as a band of live music surrounds your every move. From Jazz to Soul and Blues, expect to hear music that's unique to New Orleans.

If gumbo isn't enough to fill you up, you've got dozens of other options to choose from. Expect mouthwatering plates like:

Red beans and rice

 Chicken

Beignets

Deep-fried bell peppers

Jambalaya

Poboys

Seafood and more!

While you're sluggishly making your way out after you've stuffed yourself, make a stop at both of the art markets. One market will even feature authentic goodies straight from Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

The best things in life are free, and that's why admission to this food paradise doesn't cost a dime.
