Windsor Civic Holiday 2016: What's Open, What's Closed

Need to get some things done this holiday Monday? CBC Windsor has you covered. We've mapped out what's open and what's closed this Civic Holiday Monday.

No 311, no residential garbage collection

Many city services won't be operating as usual on the Civic Holiday.

Some garbage collection services will be affected Monday. For residents, collection will shift by a day for the rest of the week, but night commercial, front-end loader and weekly recycling collections are not delayed.  

The 311 service won't be offered on Monday either. But as of 7 a.m. on Tuesday, you'll be able to call it once again.

The city's buses will observe its Sunday / holiday schedule, but the Tunnel Bus will operate on a normal weekday schedule.

All local library branches will be closed on Monday They'll be open with their regular hours on Tuesday, though. The Chimczuk Museum is normally closed on Monday and will remain closed.

The Adventure Bay water park will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the Civic Holiday.

Can I buy booze? 

Windsor's LCBO stores will be open for the Civic Holiday. They'll mostly be open from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. The exception is the LCBO on Howard Avenue, it will be open until 6 p.m.. All LCBO outlets resume their normal hours on Tuesday.

The following Beer Store locations will be open.

  • Walker and Ypres Avenue

  • Goyeau and Elliott Street

  • Dougall Avenue  

  • Tecumseh and Lauzon Road

BMO, CIBC, RBC, Scotiabank and TD banks are all observing the Civic Holiday and will be closed, according to information posted on their respective websites.

All Windsor Family Credit Union offices will be closed on both Monday, according to information posted on its website.

Where can I get groceries? 

The Real Canadian Superstore's website indicates that the Dougall Avenue and Walker Road stores will both be open on Monday, each from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The FreshCo website indicates that all five of its Windsor stores will be open Monday, all from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Metro's four Windsor-area stores will be open for their regular hours of operation. The stores at 2750 Tecumseh Rd. W. and 3663 Tecumseh Rd. E are open 24 hours.

The city's two Food Basics stores will operate on a regular schedule Monday.

Where can I go shopping? 

The Devonshire Mall is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the Civic Holiday, according to information posted on its website. The Windsor Crossing outlet mall will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Walmart website indicates that its Tecumseh Road East store will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday. Its Dougall Avenue store will be open with the same hours that day.

Home Depot's two Windsor locations at Tecumseh Road East and Division Road will be open from 7 a.m until 6 p.m. on Monday, according to information posted on its website.
